The results of the late 1990s renovation are shown above. The original J.C. Penney (one of the chain's largest stores between 1968 and '71) was replaced by an even bigger building. With its completion, the PLAZA possessed the world's largest Penney's. Macy's became the mall's new third anchor in the fall of 2000. A 2-level West Wing was also built, which connected Macy's with the original Penney's (which was now inline space).
