Sydney's Westfield Development Corporation (now known as the Westfield Group) opened WESTFIELD PLACE, its first retail complex, in July 1959. The centre was located in the west Sydney suburb of Blacktown.

The 250,000 dollar WESTFIELD PLACE was anchored by Sydney-based Winns and featured a second department store, supermarket and twelve shops. Free parking was provided for fifty autos.
