A Northeast Wing expansion project was announced in early 2014. It added 315,000 leasable square feet, around 61 stores and services, and included the Food Hall, a relocation of the mall's existing culinary complex.

A circa-2017 plan includes the shiny new Northeast Wing (in light gray). Sears, a 1983 charter anchor, was shuttered in July 2017 and was demolished in anticipation of another mall expansion.

If the shopping hub wasn't big enough already, it will be when Seritage Growth Properties completes their AVENTURA project. The demolished Sears is being replaced with Esplanade At Aventura, an open-air, mini-lifestyle center. Factoring in this addition, and the new Northeast Wing, AVENTURA MALL will encompass an astounding 3,038,200 leasable square feet.
