By the late 1970s, Dayton's ARCADE was run-down and deteriorating. The facility was given a 14 million dollar rehab. It re-emerged, as ARCADE SQUARE, in October 1980. Comedienne Phyllis Diller (1917-2012) officiated at the dedication.

This photo is one that I actually took myself! It is a circa-1983 view of the great Rotunda at ARCADE SQUARE, showing its 3 levels and glass-enclosed elevator. The first two floors were dedicated to retail and restaurants. The third, comprised of office spaces, was cleared of tenants in 1978.
