In January 1999, the 32-year-old mall, by then known as WESTFIELD SHOPPINGTOWN BURWOOD, was totally demolished. It was replaced with a brand new centre, which began trading to the public in August of the year 2000.

A Ground Level layout of the new & improved WESTFIELD SHOPPINGTOWN BURWOOD. The complex encompassed 684,700 lettable square feet over 3 retail floors: Ground Level, Level 1 and Level 2. An outparcel cinema complex was also situated on a Lower Ground Level. The 3 floors of the mall proper were topped off by a 3-storey car park, with space for over 3,000 autos.

Both WESTFIELD BURWOOD malls have been a short walk from Burwood station, a stop on Greater Sydney's suburban railway network. Officially known as Sydney Trains since July 2013, the system currently extends for 506 route miles.
